Daily amulets

First off, Happy Beltane, May Day, or just May 1st to you all!  Whichever it is for you, I hope it is a good one.  We here look like we are in for an early dose of summer, and by Friday it is supposed to be 95 degrees.  So not ready for that much heat!
Anyway, last night a friend asked me what all the bracelets around my wrist were, and as I was telling her about each one it got me thinking about amulets.  An amulet is defined as:

-an ornament or small piece of jewelry thought to give protection against evil, danger, or disease.

I definitely view the pieces I wear on a daily basis as my amulets or talismans.  They bring me a sense of comfort and each has its own special meaning to me.  To be honest, I feel pretty naked without them.

These are what I wear around my neck everyday.  Awaken is my 2013 word of intention and reminds me of all I want to be awakened to this year.  My star and moon charm is a constant reminder of the deep relationship I feel to the moon and night sky.

These are the bracelets I wear everyday.  With the exception of the bangle, I never take any of them off.
The moon one is inscribed with our wedding date, and this what the phase of the moon looked like on the night we were married.

The green aventurine and tigers eye bracelets are from the wonderful Ginger of East 80.  Ginger is so knowledgeable and has so many beautiful offerings. Tigers eye is said to be a highly protective stone, helps distinguish ones needs from the needs of others, dispels fear, and brings good luck.

Green aventurine is associated with the heart chakra, promotes empathy for others as well as ourselves.  Helpful in healing the heart.  Not to mention, it is one of my favorite stones.

The bee bangle is special to me because I view bees as my totem animal.  Over the past few years I have had so many cool experiences with bees and have grown to be very protective of them.  I am in the process of trying to get our own hive started, so we can have these beautiful pollinators in our own backyard.

The Om symbol bracelet is one of my oldest ones and I have been wearing it for close to three years now.  It is a gentle reminder for me to seek calm and remember to breathe through the craziness.

How do you feel about tailsmans/amulets?  Do you wear daily ones that have special meanings for you?

  2. Your bracelets are so fantastic! It makes me want to get some meaningful ones to wear in multiples.

I am the same way with crystals. I carry them in my pocket with me depending on my mood (smokey quartz for calming, or rose quarts to feel love). It's a nice reminder, too, to be present. :)

    Beltane blessings to you! XO

  3. Beautiful! I also carry stones in my pocket, garnet and fluorite almost always. I never really thought of them as amulets but I suppose that's exactly what they are!

    1. Thank you so much. I never really thought of my pieces as amulets either, but as I was telling my friend about them that is the word that kept going through my head. I share your love of fluorite, it is one of my favorites!

  5. how lovely Hollie. I stopped wearing jewlery when I had my kids ... I got covered in to much child related crap! Instead I wear the stones that call me each day ... sometimes the same for weeks on end, other times nothing calls but then I do feel naked. The bracelets my kids make me hold a lot of power and I cannot help but feel their souls close when I wear them. My boyfriend bought me the most gorgeous oak leaf ring at yule and this reminds me of the longevity of our relationship (12 years!) and of my close relationship to nature ... in particular the woods. I started wearing it a bit more lately, now the kids are slightly older maybe I should wear more things more often ... you got me thinking siStar thank you. Love love love x x x

    1. Thank you dear Rose! I definitely agree that pieces kids make have their own special power and love. I didn't use to wear much jewelry either, but felt drawn to so many pieces that I just started adding more and more. I would love to see a picture of your oak leaf ring, it sounds so beautiful! Much love to you. xo

  6. OH WOW!!! This is fantastic, I love getting a view like this. I believe the little parts of life are a HUGE part of what makes us, us. Who and what we are, why we are, why we do what we do and so much more. Even something as simple, yet as powerful, as amulets. Seriously, thank you for sharing!!!

Would you mind sharing where you got the moon phase bracelet with your anniversary??? I'd LOVE something like that for Jen and I!

    1. Thank you Angie! I never realized how much power and love each piece I wear holds, until recently. They each have their own story and they truly bring me comfort when I look at them! My moon bracelet came from Etsy seller gemegenta, she also has beautiful moon necklaces.
