This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. A tradition started by Soulemama.
If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

  2. Love the Friday photo ritual idea (and Soulemama---doesn't she seem to have "it all together"?) anyways, I always see your chickens in your IG photos. How many do you have, and is it pretty easy to care for them? My husband and I were chatting a bit about maybe getting some in the future for fresh eggs, but we live in a pretty suburban area. How do they keep? :)

    1. She really does seem to have it all together, that is for sure! We love your girls, we initially had six but lost one a few months back. It was a sad day. We still have five with plans to add a few more in the future. They are really easy to care for. Their only real upkeep is cleaning the coop every couple weeks, and making sure they have food and water everyday. They do poop A LOT! I highly recommend getting the book Keeping Chickens by Ashley English, it is a great resource and she covers pretty much everything you could think of asking.

    2. Thank you Hollie! Sorry to hear you lost one : / Do you think having 3 would be "enough?" I'll definitely check out that book! Thx :)

    3. Thank you. It just depends on your needs when thinking about how many you want to get. We chose to get 5-6 because we wanted to be self reliant when it came to eggs. We wanted to stop buying store eggs all together. Chickens lay an egg every 20-27 hours. Less in colder months and more in warmer months, especially when the days start to grow longer. We are getting 3-5 eggs a day right now, and it works perfect for us. I think three would be a good number to start with, you could always add more.
